Cannabis is the “genus” name for the plant that we commonly refer to as “hemp” , “weed”, “cannabis”, “grass”, “marijuana”, and other colloquialisms.
There are a number of “species” that fall under the genus “Cannabis”:
Cannabis has been used by humans for thousands of years in industrial, nutritional, and medicinal capacities.
Experts believe that Cannabis has been cultivated and used by humans for at least 10,000 years, with it’s genetics widely believed to originate from Asia, more specifically in what we call current day China.
It was first domesticated in Neolithic times in East Asia.
